NHLC Bazaar Service Project

Our Chartering Organization, New Hope Lutheran Church (NHLC) needs our help to move furniture out of the Old Sanctuary to make room for their annual Bazaar on Saturday, Nov 22nd. The move will take place in two parts. The first part will be to move the furniture OUT of the Old Sanctuary and will take place tonight, Tuesday, Nov 18th at 7pm. Part 2 will be to RETURN the furniture to the Old Sanctuary after the Bazaar on Saturday, Nov 22nd at 4pm. 
 
Please come out tonight at 7pm to help the Troop with this important Service Project for our Chartering Organization – NHLC.

Tuesday, Nov 18th
NHLC Bazaar Furniture Move
Move furniture on Tuesday, Nov 18th and return the furniture on Sat, Nov 22nd.
Scoutmaster Corps Meeting (Dec)
Sunday, Dec 7th from 1:30-2:30pm in the Fellowship Hall at NHLC.
 
FCE / MB Workshops (Dec)
FCE will meet from 2:30-4:30pm in the grassy area near the old trailer shed on the west side of the NHLC campus (weather permitting). Merit badges workshops will be held in the Fellowship Hall and Gym from 2:30 – 4:30pm.
December Campout
Friday, Dec 12 – Sunday Dec 14 at Brazos Bend SP. Main activity will be cycling. With the holidays and camping trips in November and December we only have a few Troop meetings to organize this campout. Therefore a sign-up genius will be used to help the process to sign-up online. Please look for an email soon to sign-up for this campout.

Camping Fees and Troop Annual Dues Reminder
  
Annual Troop Dues 
If you did not pay your Troop Dues last Tuesday November 11th they are overdue. Annual dues are $85 per Scout.
 
Camping
December Campout is to Brazos Bend SP with cycling being the primary activity. Jeff Blanchard is the campout leader.
Winter Camp will be at Lost Pines Scout Reservation near Bastrop from Dec 26 – 30, 2014. Ron Hood is the leader.
January Campout is to Goose Island SP with Brett Schimanski and John Shoemaker the co-leaders.
February Campout is a backpacking trip to Colorado Bend SP. Mike Schultz and Michael Nguyen are the co-leaders.
March Campout is Thunderwolf district Camp-o-ree at Camp Brosig. Mike Schultz is the leader.
April Campout is a canoeing trip to Village Creek SP. A leader is still needed.
May Campout is to Hamilton Pool near Austin and camping at Pedernales Falls SP. A leader is still needed.
Summer Camp location and dates are still being investigated. Robert Steffen is the campout leader.
High Adventure Campout to the The Summit Bechtel Reserve in June of 2015 has been reserved and deposits are due. Mike Schultz is the leader.
 
High Adventure Campout to Philmont Scout Ranch in July of 2016. Online registration has begun. We should receive final notification of our selection in December and at that time we will develop a payment plan for the trip including costs for transportation and meals while in transit.
Fundraising

The popcorn fundraiser is nearly over!   Please turn-in all cash/checks for popcorn sales and the popcorn forms(online and paper) to Jim Jarecki by Tuesday, November 18th.

 

LAST CHANCE to turn-in popcorn forms & sales will be Tuesday November 18th at 7:30pm at New Hope Lutheran.  Contact me if you have any questions. Popcorn sales are underway. Great fundraising opportunity to raise funds for all the campouts and high adventure trips listed above. Contact Jim Jarecki for more information.

Kroger Community Rewards program is a benefit to the troop for all families that have tied their Kroger rewards card to the troop account. 1% of the amount spent by each family is donated to the troop. Please register your card with the troop and consider shopping at Kroger to support the troop.
On Saturday Nov 8th Troop 1424 held its annual Garage Sale. We took in over $2,600 in proceeds before deductions for expenses (U-haul, food, etc).  Approximately 30 scouts participated in the two days of great work and fun. Special thanks go out to Crazy Jim McGinty for organizing the Garage Sale. Jim would like to thank Alex Fuhrman and Billy Struhan for all their efforts. AnnaCatherine Roosa and Jason Dean collected the proceeds. We want to thank all of the adults for help with this major fund raising. The Scouts learn the art of selling and negotiating as extreme Uhaul packing. We will discuss all of the thorns and roses of this year garage at our next committee meeting.    
Service Projects

NHLC Bazaar Furniture Move – Tuesday, 11/18 @ 7PM and Saturday, 11/22 @ 4PM

Troop, just a reminder that the first part of the NHLC furniture move service project is Tuesday, Nov 18th at 7PM. Family Promise has already moved some of their stuff so we should still have time for the PLC/Committee meeting. Estimated time for completion is less than an hour.

 

Jason will be out of town this Saturday for part two of the project. If anyone would like to volunteer to take the lead please contact Jason Dean and let him know. See below for details.
 
New Hope Lutheran Church has asked us to help move furniture to prepare for their annual Bazaar on Saturday, Nov 22nd. We will move furniture from the Old Sanctuary (our old Scout meeting location) to a as yet undetermined location on Tuesday, Nov 18th. This is the Tuesday following the El Rancho Cima campout so there will not be a Troop meeting but is the week for PLC and Committee meetings. Depending on amount of help and time required for the furniture move we may or may not have a PLC and / or Committeee meeting following the furniture move.
We will also need to help NHLC move the furniture back after the Bazaar on Saturday, Nov 22nd around 4pm. More details will be forthcoming.
