Newsletter Highlight

 

Court of Honor

Tuesday, May 5th will be our quarterly Court of Honor. Each Scout is asked to bring an entrée or side dish that will feed 3-4 people and also a dessert, drink, flatware, or supply item that was assigned by the patrol. Liam Balaski will be our Master of Ceremonies. Look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.

Camping

 

May Campout is to Hamilton Pool near Austin and camping at El Rancho Cima. Alex Fuhrmann is the leader.

 

Summer Camp 2015 will be at Camp Hale near Talihina, Oklahoma from June 28th through July 4, 2015. Robert Steffen is the campout leader.

 

High Adventure 2015 – The Summit Bechtel Reserve. Mike Schultz is the leader. 

 

High Adventure 2016 – Philmont Scout Ranch in July / Aug of 2016.  Mike Schultz is the leader.

 

High Adventure Winter 2016 – We are planning a winter high adventure trip to the OKPIK Holiday stay program at Northern Tier High Adventure base in Minnesota. The minimum age for this trek is 13. Dates will be departure on Dec 26, 2016 with return on Jan 1, 2017.

 

High Adventure 2017 – 2019

Long range plans include:

     Florida Sea Base in the Summer of 2017

     The Summit Bechtel Reserve in Summer of 2018

     Philmont Scout Ranch in Summer of 2019

 

 

Service Projects

 

Missouri City Fallen Officers Ceremony – The Troop has participated in this ceremony for the past 4 years. The Troop participates in the opening ceremony and helps to distribute flyers to the attendees. We have also helped by placing blue ribbons on all the trees along Cartwright Road the week prior to the ceremony.

 

 

Training

 

Wilderness First Aid (WFA)

WFA training is being arranged by Crew 140 at Camp Sienna on May 16-17.

 

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

The training dates for 2015 are as follows:

 

Winter

December 26-31, 2015 at Bovay Scout Ranch

 

 

Quartermaster Report

Tent Check-in

To all April campers it is highly suggested to return all tents on the May Court of Honor. PL’s plz notify your patrol about this.

 

 

Scribe Report

The camp out to Village Creek on April 24-26 had 33 scouts and 15 adults attending.

The PLC meeting on April 28 there were 15 scouts.

At the Special Olympics service project on April 28 there were 12 scouts.

There was a swim test at the bucket pool in Sienna Plantation on April 30 and there were 16 scouts and 6 adults attended.

 

 

Order of the Arrow Report

Arrowman Bash

Arrowman Bash was last weekend at Bovay Scout Ranch. Eight people from our Troop attended. Activities included games and competitions, giveaways, free stuff, shooting sports, rock climbing, American Indian crafts, American Indian Pow-wow, and Service Projects.

 

Brotherhood

Kyle S completed his Brotherhood walk at the Arrowman Bash.

 

Ordeal

Elvis D, Christian H, Liam B, Will S, Blake B, Mr. Blanchard, and Mr. Sturhan completed their Ordeal at Arrowman Bash.
